INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -- Lisa Leslie had 21 points and 14 rebounds as the Los Angeles Sparks beat New York 82-66 on Thursday night to snap the Liberty's six-game winning streak. DeLisha Milton scored 17 points to help the Sparks (19-3) to their 15th victory in 16 games. Tamecka Dixon added 12 points, and Ukari Figgs had 10. Vickie Johnson led the Liberty (13-10) with 17 points, Teresa Weatherspoon added 14, and Sue Wicks had 10. "They are playing tremendous defense. They are so athletic and quick. It was not fun getting our butts kicked, but they are a pleasure to watch," Wicks said. Los Angeles outscored New York 22-7 at the start of the second half, as the Liberty made just two of 17 shots. "We felt them out in the first half and they did a good job of attacking. In the second half, we knew we had to continue to step it up and we were able to do that," Leslie said. Weatherspoon opened the second half with a 3-pointer that gave New York a 43-39 lead, but Figgs and Leslie each had two baskets as the Sparks scored eight consecutive points. Johnson's two free throws ended that streak, but Los Angeles responded with six straight points to take a 53-45 lead with 14:41 left. "L.A. showed they had five days rest and their batteries were charged," said New York coach Richie Adubato. "They were at a high energy level. That's the same thing we did Wednesday night after having four days off." New York defeated Seattle, 78-55, Wednesday. Milton had five points during the Sparks' 8-0 run that gave them a 61-47 advantage with 10:22 to play.
