The skinny: This green was first reached off the tee by Craig Wood in the 1933 Open, and later by Sam Snead in 1946. Hidden bunker and flag position dictate line of the drive. A steep slope protects the flag, and the green is narrow and hard to hold.
Ian Baker-Finch says: At just 314 yards, this par-4 is driveable. You've got to make a birdie here, because the final six holes are when the course really gets difficult. There are lots of hidden ridges, bunkers and bumps along the way, so the key off the tee is to drive it to a favorite number for your second shot. The flag is usually on the back tier of the green, so landing on the lower level is a no-go. But it's hard to fly it and stop it on the top tier. If you go long, you're left with a tricky chip back.
