PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- It wasn't easy, but Randy Wolf is finally a
10-game winner.

The left-hander threw 135 pitches over six innings and notched
his first victory since July 30 as the Philadelphia Phillies beat
the San Francisco Giants for the first time in 10 tries, 5-2
Saturday.
"It felt like I was running into a 30-mph wind with a parachute
on," Wolf said. "I had a lot of things go the right way in this
game or it could have been a different story. My command wasn't
exactly there."
It was the Phillies' first victory over the Giants since June 2,
1999.
Wolf (10-7) gave up two runs on eight hits and struck out seven.
He walked five.
"It was a tremendously gutsy performance," said Philadelphia
manager Terry Francona, who watched his team post just its 12th win
in its last 37 games. "He always has a great outlook on things. He
really loves to pitch. It's real noticeable and you could see that
today."
Scott Rolen went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple and raised his
club-high RBI total to 71. Pat Burrell had a two-run double for the
Phillies, who scored all five of their runs with two outs.
Vicente Padilla pitched two perfect innings and has retired his
last 14 batters in a row over his last three appearances. Jeff
Brantley got the final three outs for his 20th save in 24
opportunities.
"Vicente was real crisp," Francona said. "That was the best
velocity we've seen from him since he came over here. He's exciting
to watch."
Phillies pitchers retired the final 12 Giants batters.
Philadelphia pushed across three runs to take a 3-0 lead in the
third inning off Kirk Rueter (8-9). With two outs, Burrell hit a
two-run double and Brian Hunter looped an RBI single.
The Giants cut the deficit to 3-1 in the fourth on Barry Bonds'
sacrifice fly.
Philadelphia came back with two runs in its half of the fourth
to make the score 5-1. Rolen's liner was played into a two-run
triple when right fielder Ellis Burks lost the ball in the
sunlight.
"It was tough to see out there for the first four innings,"
San Francisco manager Dusty Baker said. "Ellis just didn't see it.
Unfortunately, that turns into a big play."
Calvin Murray's RBI double pulled the Giants within 5-2 in the
sixth.
Rueter failed to pitch past the fifth inning for his third
straight start. He worked four innings, allowing five runs on 10
hits.
The Giants, who left 15 runners on base during a 16-3 victory Friday, stranded 11, including 10 in the first four innings.
"We had plenty of chances," Baker said. "(Wolf) was
effectively wild. He was in and out of the zone all day. We just
couldn't come up with that big hit."
