NEW YORK (AP) _ Glen Rice scored 18 points and Marcus Camby added 13 as the New York Knicks beat the Philadelphia 76ers 91-83 in an exhibition game Thursday night. Rice, acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers in the trade that sent Patrick Ewing to Seattle, hit his first six shots as the Knicks overcame an early seven-point deficit. "After getting the first game under my belt, I did not feel as much tension and the nerves were gone," said Rice, was 2-for-9 on Tuesday night against Chicago. "I tried to be as perfect as I can. I owed it to our big men to hit my shots. They were banging and setting a lot of picks." Rice hit consecutive baskets late in the second quarter to give the Knicks the lead for good. He finished 6-of-7. Knicks star Latrell Sprewell sprained his left ankle in the second quarter and did not play in the second half. Camby was 5-of-6 from the field and added 10 rebounds. Larry Johnson had 11 rebounds and nine points, and Allan Houston and Charlie Ward added 10 points each. "We made a conscious effort to set the tone. I felt like I wanted to be more assertive," Camby said. "Philadelphia is in our division and we'll be seeing them a lot, so it's important to play well against them. We want to be ready opening night." The Knicks will face the 76ers in the regular-season opener at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 31. After leading by just three points early in the second half, the Knicks went on a 9-0 run and never led by less than seven points the rest of the way. Allen Iverson led the 76ers with 20 points, and Aaron McKie added 11.
