BOX SCORE
DETROIT (Ticker) -- Doug Brown scored twice and Sergei Fedorov had a hand in all four goals as the Detroit Red Wings coasted to a 4-1 exhibition victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Brown and Fedorov both had shorthanded tallies for the Red Wings, who scored three times in the opening period against Dwayne Roloson. Brown opened the scoring at 3:26 while Detroit was killing a hooking penalty on Randy Burridge. He tallied again at 9:05, just 88 seconds before Igor Larionov extended the lead to 3-0. Fedorov assisted on all three first-period goals, then got Detroit's second shorthanded marker 7:21 into the second. After a disappointing 1998-99 campaign, Fedorov leads the Red Wings in preseason scoring with three goals and five assists. Chris Osgood lost his shutout bid midway through the second period when Domenic Pittis got his second preseason goal. Roloson surrendered four goals on 18 shots before Martin Biron turned aside all 15 shots he faced.
