MONTREAL (AP) _ Henrik Sedin assisted on two goals in a successful North American debut as the Vancouver Canucks tied the Montreal Canadiens 3-3 in a preseason game Wednesday night.

Henrik Sedin, along with his Swedish identical twin brother Daniel, were drafted second and third overall in 1999. They played their first game for the Canucks on an NHL-size rink and created several scoring chances with linemate Trent Klatt.

Henrik Sedin assisted on Zenith Komarniski's power-play goal and set up Klatt for another goal from behind the net, both in the second period.

Steve Kariya also scored on the power play for Vancouver midway through the first period.

Montreal's Andrei Bashkirov tied the game 3-3 at 2:58 of the third period.

Rookie defenseman Andrei Markov scored a goal and assisted on goals from Bashkirov and Dainius Zubrus for Montreal. Markov leads the Canadiens with two goals and five assists in three preseason games.

Jeff Hackett split goaltending duties with Mathieu Garon for Montreal (0-3-1), while Felix Potvin played the entire game for Vancouver, making 19 saves.

Vancouver outshot Montreal 36-22.

The game also saw the debut of Montreal's top draft pick, Marcel Hossa, the brother of Ottawa star Marian Hossa, who missed the start of camp with a knee injury.

The Canucks, back from a 10-day camp in Sweden, are 1-0-1 in the preseason.
