In their system
Swiss-born netminder David Aebischer (161st overall in '97) continued to improve his stock in Hershey (AHL), going 29-23-2, with a 3.31 GAA and a .902 save percentage. He also performed well in the post-season, helping the Bears reach the AHL's Western Conference Finals. At the major junior level, netminder Philippe Sauve (38th overall in '98) played in just 17 games for Hull (QMJHL) , going 9-7-1 with a 3.45 GAA.

On the forward line, right wing, Branko Radivojevic (93rd overall in '99) had a good 1999-2000 campaign at Belleville (OHL), scoring 23 goals and adding 49 assists for 72 points in 59 games. Tough guy right wing Scott Parker (20th overall in '98), who had just seven points in 32 games at Hershey in '98-99, scored 12 goals and 19 points in 68 games this past season to go along with his 206 PIM's. Another physical player for the Bears was defenseman Rick Berry (55th overall in '97), who in 64 AHL games had 25 points (9 G, 16 A) and 148 PIM's.

Recent draft history
In the 1990's, the Quebec/Colorado franchise made 15 first round selections. Of those 15 players, 10 saw action with NHL clubs during the 1999-2000 season. However, only four of those 10 players suited up for the Avalanche (Alex Tanguay, Martin Skoula, Marc Denis, Adam Deadmarsh).
