Whitfield Wins It for Canada

Simon Whitfield's moment of glory punctuated an afternoon of disappointment for Australia. The host nation, hoping for a men's triathlon medal sweep, instead saw Whitfield recover from a cycling mishap to claim gold for Canada on Saturday. A day earlier, Switzerland's Brigitte McMahon pulled away from Michellie Jones in the final 100 meters to win the Games' first women's triathlon.
