ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Texas Rangers manager Johnny Oates never saw two wilder games on consecutive nights. After 54 runs and 67 hits, who could argue?

Luis Alicea's RBI single in the ninth inning gave Texas an 11-10 victory over Oakland on Saturday night, the second straight game the Rangers won with both teams scoring in double figures.

A day after blowing a 15-7 lead and losing 17-16, the Athletics wasted leads of 6-1 in the third, 8-6 in the seventh and 10-9 in the ninth Saturday.

"Last night was the craziest, but I know I've not had back-to-back games this crazy," Oates said. "I think it's just a feeling that we're never out of it. We just keep battling and battling."

Chad Curtis started the Texas ninth with a single off Jason Isringhausen (1-2), and Jason McDonald singled Curtis to third with one out. Royce Clayton then hit a potential double-play grounder, but third baseman Eric Chavez threw the ball into right field for an error, allowing Curtis to score the tying run and sending McDonald to third.

Alicea then singled in the game-winner off reliever T.J. Mathews. Oakland had five infielders, including three on the right side, but Alicea shot a grounder through.

"Last night was a big confidence booster," said Alicea, who finished 3-for-6 with three RBI. "If we would have folded, I think it would have affected us tonight. We showed a lot of courage to stay in the game."

Jason Giambi hit two-run homers in the seventh and ninth innings to give the A's short-lived leads.

Giambi's homer in the ninth off of John Wetteland (2-1) prevented him from earning his 300th career save, but he got the victory for the second straight night when Texas rallied in the bottom of the inning.

Giambi's ninth-inning homer was his 13th, and he now holds the major league lead in home runs and RBI (34). Giambi's homer off Rangers starter Kenny Rogers broke a 6-6 tie.

"They came back and beat us last night, then we came back and were thinking maybe it's our turn to come back," Giambi said. "But it wasn't."

David Segui's two-run single in the eighth inning gave the Rangers a 9-8 lead that Giambi turned around with his second homer.

Oakland starter Tim Hudson allowed six runs -- four earned -- on nine hits in six innings. Rogers allowed eight runs -- six earned -- on 12 hits in seven innings. The 12 hits allowed tied his career high.

Frank Menechino had a run-scoring double and Miguel Tejada drove in a run with a single in Oakland's four-run second. Rogers added a two-run error, throwing into left field trying to get the lead runner on a bunt by Jeremy Giambi.

Tejada drove in two runs, his third straight game with multiple RBI.

Oakland's Ben Grieve was 3-for-4 for his third consecutive three-hit game.

"We had our best out there and didn't get it done," A's manager Art Howe said. "We had our opportunities."

Curtis had a run-scoring single in the second, and McDonald hit his first homer of the season, a solo shot, in the third. Rafael Palmeiro added a sacrifice fly, making it 6-3.

Texas tied it with three runs in the fourth with just one hit. Oakland had one error in the inning and Hudson walked four, including one with the bases loaded. Alicea knocked in a run with a groundout to second.
