BOX SCORE
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Tracy McGrady scored 15 of his game-high 28 points in the third quarter and Pat Garrity added 19 as the Orlando Magic pulled away for an easy 118-92 preseason win over Detroit Saturday. In beating the Pistons for the second straight night, the Magic (3-0) used some hot second-half shooting to break open a close contest. Trailing only 49-48 at the half, Detroit (1-2) stayed with the Magic until midway through the third period before McGrady, one of Orlando's key off-season acquisitions, sparked the Magic rout. With Orlando leading 63-59, McGrady scored six points during an 8-0 Magic run that pushed the margin to 71-59. By the end of the period Orlando led 85-66 and had effectively put the game away. Orlando took advantage of nine Detroit turnovers in the third period and capitalized by hitting 11 of its 18 field goal attempts. While McGrady continued to fulfill the high hopes pinned on him by the Magic, Orlando's other prize free agent continued to be a no-show. For the third straight game Grant Hill remained sidelined as he recovers from surgery on his left ankle. John Wallace paced the Pistons with 19 points and Orlando's Andrew DeClercq led all rebounders with 11.
