NCAA Tournament 2001 - Purdue Ends Xavier's Run

Purdue and Xavier are battling for a Final Four spot.

Purdue Ends Xavier's Run
It wasn't easy, but then, nothing ever is for Purdue. The Boilermakers, playing without injured point guard Erika Valek, received an inspired performance from Kelly Komara and defeated Xavier 88-78 in the Mideast Finals to earn a trip to the Final Four. Komara, who was named the regional's outstanding player, scored 20 points and had five assists after taking over at point guard.
