GAME LOG
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Pat Burrell hit two homers, including a grand slam, as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Diego Padres 10-4 Tuesday night. Omar Daal (3-12) pitched six strong innings for the victory, his first since May 25 when he was with Arizona, as the Phillies won for the first time in five games against the Padres this season. Wayne Gomes, in his first appearance since July 6, pitched one inning and gave up one run on one hit for the Phillies. Ed Vosberg relieved Gomes in the eighth and walked two before giving up Damian Jackson's RBI single to cut the Phillies' lead to 5-4. Chris Brock came on and struck out Eric Owens with the bases loaded to end the eighth. Then, Philadelphia broke it open in the eighth with five runs off Kevin Walker. Mike Lieberthal hit an RBI infield single and then Burrell, 3-for-3 with two walks, hit the second grand slam of his career. Burrell is 6-for-7 with 17 RBIs with the bases loaded. It was his second two-homer, five-RBI game of the season, the last coming June 20 against the Mets. The Phillies scored in each of the first four innings against Brian Tollberg (2-2). In the first, Bobby Abreu took advantage of catcher Ben Davis' throwing error to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead. Abreu singled, moved to second on Scott Rolen's single, stole third and scored on the errant throw. Abreu, 3-for-5, added an RBI double in the fourth and a solo homer, his 17th, in the sixth. Burrell's 12th homer of the season made it 2-0 in the second. Marlon Anderson's RBI fielder's choice made it 3-0 in the third. Second baseman Brett Boone prevented further trouble for Tollberg as he made a diving stop up the middle on the grounder and made a great backhand flip to shortstop Desi Relaford, who almost converted an inning-ending double play on Anderson. Daal cruised through the first five innings, allowing just two hits. He struggled in the sixth when San Diego cut the deficit to 4-3 on Joe Vitiello's RBI double and Davis' two-run double. Daal allowed three runs on six hits, struck out five and walked three. Tollberg gave up 11 hits and four runs -- three earned. He walked and struck out one en route to his second loss in three starts. Game notesBurrell leads NL rookies with 13 homers and 32 extra-base hits. ...
