John Elway hoists the Lamar Hunt Trophy for the fifth -- and likely final -- time in his career. |
After what was probably his last dash around Mile High Stadium, John Elway is headed to the Super Bowl for the fifth time in his illustrious career. Elway was able to take a victory lap after the Broncos rallied to defeat the Jets 23-10 to win their second consecutive AFC Championship and earn a spot opposite former coach Dan Reeves and the Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII. Denver forced six turnovers and held New York to just 14 yards rushing. The defending Super Bowl champs trailed 10-0 in the third quarter before Elway and Co. capitalized on Jets blunders to earn the chance to defend their title in Miami on Jan. 31.
