DETROIT (Ticker) -- Mikko Eloranta scored his second goal of the game on the power play with 11:46 remaining as the Boston Bruins squandered a four-goal lead before pulling out a 6-5 exhibition victory over the Detroit Red Wings. Eloranta poked in a rebound of Nick Boynton's shot for his second power-play tally and the Bruins' fourth in eight chances with the man advantage. Andre Savage and Shawn Bates also had power-play goals for Boston. Rookie defenseman Brandon Smith, fighting for a spot in the opening night lineup, collected three assists for Boston, which also allowed three power-play goals. Eloranta's first of the night came 86 seconds after Bates' goal and gave the Bruins a 5-1 lead 8:36 into the second period. But Detroit stormed back, getting within 5-4 before the end of the period on goals by Steve Yzerman, Larry Murphy and Marc Rodgers. Nicklas Lidstrom tied it at 5:49 of the third period with his second goal of the game. John Grahame made 35 saves for Boston, while veteran Ken Wregget stopped 21 shots for Detroit.
