BOX SCORE
PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Petr Hubacek scored his first goal of the exhibition season with 11:27 remaining, lifting the Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals. With the game tied, 2-2, Dean Melanson's shot from the point got through goaltender Sebastien Charpentier and trickled toward the goal line, where Hubacek poked the puck into the net. Hubacek also had an assist on Rick Tocchet's power-play goal early in the second period that gave Philadelphia a 2-1 advantage. Ken Klee got the Capitals even at 11:37 of the second on the power play. Charpentier played the third period after Olaf Kolzig stopped 17 of 18 shots over the first 40 minutes. John LeClair beat Kolzig 6:06 into the opening period. Roman Cechmanek, battling for the backup role, started and allowed one goal on five shots before being replaced by Maxime Ouellet midway through the middle period.
