ATLANTA (AP) _ Ray Ferraro scored a power-play goal with 4:18 to play to lift the Atlanta Thrashers to a 3-2 exhibition victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Goalie Damian Rhodes made 22 saves for the Thrashers (1-2-0). Atlanta took a 1-0 lead on Yannick Tremblay's goal with 11:59 to play in the first period, but the Hurricanes answered with a short-handed goal by Martin Gelinas. The Thrashers took the lead again in the second period on defenseman Chris Tamers' slap shot from just inside the blue line. Carolina (1-4-0) responded with another short-handed goal when defenseman David Tanabe scored with 4:47 to play in the period. Atlanta defenseman Adam Burt, an off-season acquisition from the Philadelphia Flyers, broke his cheek bone in three places after a collision in the first period. He will have surgery Sunday and is expected to miss four to five weeks.
