EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ Alexander Mogliny scored three goals and Scott Gomez and Sascha Goc added two assists each Saturday as the New Jersey Devils edged the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2. The victory boosted the Devils' exhibition record to 2-1-1, while the Flyers slipped to 4-2. Mogliny scored his first goal at 8:33 of the first period when he took a pass from Goc along the boards, skated between the circles and flicked a left-handed wrist shot past Flyer goalie Brian Boucher. Randy McKay made it 2-0 at 3:11 of the second period when he took a drop pass from Sergei Nemchinov, and using Nemchinov as a screen, whistled a shot by Boucher. Mogily got his second goal of the game and third of the preseason at 11:17, skating onto a pass from behind the net from Gomez and one-timing it into the Flyer net. The Flyers scored two short-handed goals early in the third period while Rick Tocchet sat in the penalty box. Mark Recchi made it 3-1, taking a behind-the-back pass from Daymond Langkow and beating Martin Brodeur, who had come on in the second period to replace Chris Terreri. Rookie Justin Williams made it a one-goal game at 2:13, stripping the puck from a Devils defenseman and slipping it by Brodeur. The Devils added an insurance goal and Mogilny got the hat trick with two minutes remaining in the match when he took a cross-ice pass from Sergei Brylin just outside the crease and tucked his shot inside the near post.
