CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Cynthia Cooper had 21 points and 10 assists and Sheryl Swoopes scored 22 points as the Houston Comets beat the Charlotte Sting 76-66 on Wednesday night. Charlotte has lost eight straight at home to match the WNBA record set by Washington in 1998 and 1999. The Sting (2-12) are 0-7 at the Charlotte Coliseum this season. Swoopes was 9-for-17 from the field and had five steals, five rebounds and three assists for three-time defending WNBA champion Houston (13-2). Tina Thompson added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Comets, who shot 51.8 percent from the field. Houston took advantage of 15 first half turnovers by the Sting and used a late 12-2 run to take a 41-31 lead at the break. Charlotte rallied several times during the second half and cut the lead to seven at 56-49 with 10:16 remaining before the Comets broke it open with an 11-2 run. Andrea Stinson and Rhonda Mapp each had 15 points for Charlotte. Shalonda Enis added nine points and five rebounds.
