INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Alicia Thompson had 15 points and the Indiana Fever held Charlotte scoreless for eight minutes late in the second half to beat the Sting 67-51 Wednesday. Kara Wolters had 11 points, and Monica Maxwell had eight points and eight rebounds as the Fever (9-23) avoided finishing in last place in the Eastern Conference. Charlotte guard Andrea Stinson, seventh in the league in scoring, finished with 17 points. Tracy Reid added 12 points and six rebounds for the Sting (8-24). Indiana, leading by six points with 10 minutes to play, held Charlotte scoreless over the next eight minutes. Wolters hit a basket and two free throws as the Fever scored 10 consecutive points to run their lead to 61-45 with 2:04 remaining. After the Sting cut Indiana's lead to three early in the second half, they missed 15 of their next 16 shots.
