SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Ruthie Bolton-Holifield scored 17 points Wednesday night as the Sacramento Monarchs routed the Seattle Storm 79-46. The Monarchs finished the regular season with six victories in seven games to finish 13-3 at home. Sacramento plays host to three-time defending champion Houston on Saturday in the opening round of the playoffs. Sacramento (21-11) never trailed, scoring 15 straight points to take a 24-4 lead midway through the first half. The expansion Storm (6-26), who finished with the league's worst record, missed 17 of their first 20 shots and had only six rebounds in the first-half. Bolton-Holifield scored 13 points in 13 first-half minutes. She made 6-of-7 shots overall and converted all three free throws. Bolton-Holifield scored seven straight points in the Monarchs' 15-0 run. Following two free throws by Stacey Lovelace to break the string, Bolton-Holifield connected on a 3-pointer, giving Sacramento a 27-6 lead. Latasha Byears scored 13 points for the Monarchs, Katy Steding had 12 and Tangela Smith added 10. Yolanda Griffith had nine points and 12 rebounds.
