PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Brian Giles is the latest in a long line of athletes to have his name and picture attached to a supermarket product.

The Pirates announced Tuesday that bottles of Giles' ``No Guts, No Glory'' thirst quencher would soon appear on Pittsburgh-area supermarket shelves.

So after his 10th-inning homer beat the Florida Marlins 3-2 on Tuesday night, it was a perfect opportunity to push the new product. But when Giles was asked what was in his cup, he admitted it was beer.

So, he might need some work on the art of promotion, but the Pirates are more than happy with Giles' production. The home run off closer Antonio Alfonseca (1-4) was Giles' 15th and his 50th RBI of the season.

``I can't think of anybody I'd rather have up there with the game on the line,'' Pirates manager Gene Lamont said. ``Even though he had a tough night, you know he's going to give you a quality at bat. That's why we gave him the big contract.''

Lamont was referring to the five-year extension Giles recently signed. The deal is worth a reported $45 million, and it's the biggest commitment the Pirates have ever made to a player.

Games like Tuesday's are why the Pirates believe they made a smart investment. Giles succeeded in the 10th after going 0-for-3 and stranding three runners earlier in the game.

The Pirates rallied for runs in the eighth, ninth and 10th after doing very little against Marlins starter Reid Cornelius. They were down to their last strike in the ninth before they tied the game on consecutive doubles by Adrian Brown and Warren Morris.

``One thing about this club is we're not going to give up,'' catcher Jason Kendall said. ``Regardless of how bad things get _ and they've gotten pretty bad at times _ we won't quit trying. It's a good win for us. Hopefully, it will get us on a little bit of a roll.''

The Pirates have won two straight against the Marlins after returning from a 1-5 trip. They had a 10-4 blowout on Monday and won a tighter game on Tuesday. Pittsburgh got an exceptional pitching performance from Kris Benson, who allowed four hits in eight innings and matched his career best with 11 strikeouts.

Unfortunately for Benson, two of the hits were a third-inning single by Cornelius and Cliff Floyd's ninth homer.

``Benson manhandled us,'' Florida manager John Boles said. ``We got the two-run homer and that was it.''

Florida relievers Braden Looper and Armando Almanza pitched out of a tough situation in the eighth, and Boles went to his closer in the ninth. Alfonseca had just his second blown save in 17 chances, but no regrets about the pitch to Giles.

``Two-seam fastball, my best pitch,'' he said. ``What can I do? I can do nothing. It's gone from my mind already. Tomorrow is a new day.''

Pittsburgh's Morris had four hits to match his career best for a game. Since snapping a 0-for-10 streak, he is 6-for-8.
