TORONTO (AP) _ Rookie Mark Redman's fastball has been a pleasant surprise. His unblemished record is even more surprising.

``It's underrated. People say 'oh you don't throw it hard' but it's not how hard you throw it, it's where you throw it,'' Redman said after allowing four hits in seven innings as the Minnesota Twins won their fourth straight, 4-1 over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.

``Pitching inside with my fastball was a big key for me.''

Redman (4-0) gave up one run, struck out five and walked three to win his third straight decision since entering the rotation on May 5.

``My fastball has kept me in games,'' said Redman, whose fastball tops out at 92 mph. ``I'm using it more. In the past I'd use that changeup, but now I have a good fastball.''

Hector Carrasco, Travis Miller and LaTroy Hawkins finished the five-hitter, with Hawkins getting two outs for his second save.

Cristian Guzman walked three times before homering off Toronto starter Kelvim Escobar (4-6) in the sixth inning, giving Minnesota a 3-1 lead.

``If he's going to make an impact at the major league level he needs to take walks,'' Minnesota manager Tom Kelly said. ``He had a terrific night.''

After Guzman walked in the first, Minnesota took a 2-0 lead as Matt Lawton, Ron Coomer and Butch Huskey hit consecutive singles.

The Blue Jays cut it to 2-1 in the second, when Jose Cruz Jr. hit a groundball past first baseman Coomer, scoring Carlos Delgado. Coomer raised his arms as the ball rolled past him for a single.

After Jacque Jones singled in the eighth, Guzman doubled and Lawton hit a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1.

Escobar gave up seven hits and seven walks in six innings.

``It's frustrating,'' Escobar said. ``You have to throw strikes. I'll take a look at the video and try to make an adjustment as soon as possible.''

Notes: There was a moment of silence before the game for hockey great Maurice ``Rocket'' Richard, who died Saturday. His funeral is today. ... Redman made his fifth start of the season. ... The SkyDome's roof was open. ... Redman went 9-9 with a 5.05 ERA with Triple-A Salt Lake last season. He has limited the opposition to three runs or less in four of five starts. Redman has won five straight decisions, dating back to Aug. 22, 1999. ... The Blue Jays have won just twice in their last eight home games and are 14-15 at SkyDome.
